Gene Sequencing

TARGET is employing advanced and complementary analysis technologies, such as microarray expression analysis and copy number alterations, to strategically characterize genomic changes involved in childhood cancers. By combining these techniques, TARGET will identify those genes that are either altered in their expression level or mapped to the chromosome regions of deletion/amplification, as these genes represent strong candidates for therapeutic targeting. Genes of interest identified by gene expression and genomic characterization efforts will undergo high-throughput, targeted sequencing.

All data from the genomic characterization and sequence analysis will be made available in or through the TARGET Data Portal.
